The goal of the art project is to introduce art therapy which helps patients externalize feelings through non-destructive means, help therapists and teenagers gain insight into what the teenager is feeling through art representation of repressed or unconscious emotions, and make teenagers feel active and empowered by exploring their symbolic work and their growing maturity to solve problems.  We want our teens to be able to express themselves, relieve stress, and boost their self-esteemself esteem all through art therapy. Nowadays, art therapy is being used in many areas of treatments and recovery, becoming very popular. We want our patients to be in a calm, safe environment where they can express themselves, and where we will be encouraging their art expertise through the journey. We hope to create a space thatwhich does not scare kids away from the help they need. Many teens are afraid to approach help from adults or large organizations in fear of being judged. And, many of the organizations which do exist are geared towards preventative measures and do not focus on the scenario which occurs once it is too late. Also, in low-incomelow income areas, there do not exist many resources for youth to help themselves in this fashion. By bringing these types of programs and events to their local communities or schools we could make it much easier for youth to seek help and recover from their addictions.
